A STATISTICAL RARITY; THE FEMALE MASS SHOOTER

A STATISTICAL RARITY;  THE FEMALE MASS SHOOTER

_____________________________________________

INTRODUCTION

Recent research examined female mass shooters. Specifically,

the research provides descriptive factors about perpetrators

and incidental characteristics. Findings indicate female students

more closely align with male mass shooters than the average

female. Female mass shooters tend to target places associated

with an ideological  motivated attacker.

Many shootings are done by male perpetrators. In general,

men account for the majority of homicides in mass murder.

When women kill, during a mass shooting event, there tends to

be a relationship component underlying it. When females become

mass shooters, they tend to have one or two intended targets.

However, unlike their male counterparts, despite having one or

two targets, they are willing to kill outside of their targets.

Female mass shooters, trends show, aim to take out as many

people as possible; therefore, inevitably attack outside their

target.

Given the rarity of female mass shootings, what we do know

find that motivations include mental illness, shame, and or

deteriorating life course. Female shooters tend to plan and prepare

for their attacks methodically. Research also reflects that female

mass shooters attempt to kill as many people as possible. Much

UNLIKE male mass shooters, FEMALES tend to, more often than

not, end up taking their lives by suicide after the commission of

their crimes.

RESULTS

Most females are single at the time of the attack and unmarried.

Most females, not all, had NO criminal history before mass

murder event. Often, there was physical abuse in the backgrounds

of these individuals. The majority of female shooters, upwards

of 60%, have been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

ATTACK MOTIVES

Autogenic motives, meaning they did not target specific

individuals bc their motives were self-generated; attributable

to mental health. With female mass shooters, few have terrorist

motivations. 35% of female shooters had victim and victim

specific motivations. Meaning they started be attacking specific

individuals, but eventually, ended up, over the course of violence,

shooting and killing those beyond their targets. 40% of female

mass shooters had been fired from a job. Some women's

motivations was to garner sympathy and "infamy" through their

acts of violence. Very few had a parental origination.

Most mass shootings by females were NOT impulsive. In fact,

upwards of 80% of the cases, it was uncovered that there was a

high degree of planning. Perpetrators with a high level of

planning researched their main target or victim, purchased

additional firearms, researched target locations, and tended

to purchase more and more tactical gear/additional firearms.

Research shows that SCHOOLS are the 2nd most often

targeted places for female mass shooters. Some female shooters

hold negative ideas, opposite the ideas, that are being taught

in their schools. It's equally a rebellion against repression,

as it is a way to assert power and control. And, as stated

previously, unlike their male counterparts, are much more likely

to commit suicide in the aftermath of the event; verses dying

suicide by cop, or surrendering to authorities peacefully.
